Throw your own Lego Party at home.
Instagram Targeted Ads can always be a doozy. Half the time I have no idea why Mark Zuckerberg and his croonies think I could be interested in something. In between the ads for pretty dresses and adult-only all inclusive resorts, I started getting a lot of ads for BrickFest Live. I knew my son would enjoy it. A company that puts on a worldwide tour but only has 3 photos on their Instagram just feels…scammy
One Saturday, I drank too many hard Topo Chicos and bought us tickets. Making this one of the few times that I regretted a tipsy decision.
The whole event was very underwhelming.
There were a handful of places to build different creations, but the wait was long. Which should be expected when kids are building with Legos.
Sure, the giant displays are cool. I admire anyone who has the patience to build them. All the things you can do at Brickfest, you can do at the Science Center of Iowa. And for so much cheaper.
If you’re considering getting the ads and thinking “this could be fun”, do not order. I promise. Buy a $15 Lego set for each member of your family, put a sheet under the dining room table, order some pizza, and have an at-home build night. You get to make memories and have a good time, and don’t have to risk arguing with your kids in a 45 minute line. Save those fights for Disney World, duh.
The one plus? Now I want to install a Lego wall in our house. I think it will be super fun for play dates, visitors, and to just inspire some creative family time. Now to decide if I want to put it in the office/den room or the living room.
